New Wealth Management Head At Jefferies

Jefferies & Co has hired Markman (“Mark”) Peters as managing director and head of the firm’s wealth management group. He joins from SunTrust Bank, where he was most recently executive vice president and head of private wealth management, a business that included international wealth management, personal asset management and SunTrust Investment Services.

Richard Handler, chairman and chief executive officer of Jefferies, said: “We see a terrific opportunity to grow Jefferies’ wealth management business given the reduction in the number of full service Wall Street firms serving this market.”

Jefferies’ wealth management group provides wealth management and related services to executives, families and high net worth individuals via offices in New York, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Before joining SunTrust, Mr Peters served as managing director and head of US private wealth management at Deutsche Bank. Previously, he had a similar role at Citigroup Private Bank, was a managing director of private client services at DLJ Securities and its successor, and also worked for 14 years at Goldman Sachs within private client services.
